Stillwell Runs Deep

John Stillwell is one of Australia’s mathematical treasures. Stillwell is probably the best writer of mathematics on the planet, and his elegant new book is free to download until June 20. Do so.

  1. Thanks Marty, I did not know much about Prof Stillwell, so i watched one of his lectures at SETI. He really was clever in the way he linked the various strategies over the centuries to prove axb= bxa. There is some useful stuff for my Y10s and Y11’s too, in his explanation of (a+b)^2.

On a sports note, apparently Liverpool used maths analytics to judge player talent in it’s rise to win the champions league – maybe you can do the same for the Saints.

    1. Thanks, George. Stillwell is great. He’s what teachers should be reading, rather than the Dweck dreck. As for analytics, that’s not gonna help the Saints: if you suck, you suck.
