VCAA’s Recipe For Examination Improvement

Is it just me? Was everybody else already aware that VCAA’s logo is a Penrose triangle?

Anyway, VCAA has published a webpage, outlining what they have done and are planning to do in response to the Bennett review. The page outlines VCAA’s adjustments to accord with Bennett’s recommendations, and includes links to previous relevant notices and the like.

Will this be the difference? We’ll have to see, and of course the proof will be in the pudding. But at least VCAA appears to have a pudding recipe. It is a start, at least.

  1. I find (correction ‘should find’) it hard to believe that they paid FIXED rates in the past! No wonder they had significant error issues. The way you approach a fixed price job is very different and quality tends to be the difference for a complex task like this!

“Increased the funding allocated for Mathematics and Chemistry panels to develop examinations, including additional hours and hourly wages rather than fixed rates.”

    1. Yes, good point. I guess it means the same as what “subject matter experts” was supposed to mean, before VCAA perverted that phrase beyond recognition.
