So, Albo’s government has legislated a ban of social media for kids under 16. This is with the support of Dutton’s thugs and with very strong support from the Australian public. And, of course, with support from the Murdochians who initiated the crusade, without ever a thought that it might, just by chance, also screw over Murdoch’s competition. Yep, as always, Murdoch’s noble editors were just thinking of the children.
To make it all the more palatable, for some reason Albo sent out Murray “One” Watt to be the guy to trumpet Albo’s “world-leading legislation“.

God, this is a stupid country. Not as stupid as America, but we’re giving it a hell of a shot. I can’t be bothered arguing this stupidity so, once again, I’ll just provide links and leave it to Mrs. Peachum to sum up: Idiots. All of ‘em.
There are 1001 very good reasons for calling this law stupid. But “The online world is a place where
children and young people access information, build social and technical skills, connect with
family and friends, learn about the world around them and relax and play”, as the child right task force write, is sarcasm. Right?
I never claimed Albo and his gang had a monopoly on the stupidity.
Any person who has at least briefly studied law knows that three factors prevent crimes: swiftness, certainty, and severity of punishment. All three factors must stay balanced, and the exaggeration of one does not compensate for the lack of another. This law is nothing but virtue-signalling masturbation. It is a pure exercise of totalitarian powers for populist reasons.
It’s easy to tell that this has nothing to do with ‘saving the kiddies’, as not one person on the pro-censorship side has noted that smartphones are not compulsory.
Indeed.
Excellent point!
Notable that Murdoch/Newscorp only cranked up this campaign straight after they stopped getting their corrupt ‘media bargaining code’ payments from Facebook.
Ironically, the Murdochs preach free markets, but never hesitate to use govt to shut down their competitors at the first sign of competition. Refer in 1986 when they got the fed govt to force HWT to sell its newspapers to Murdoch.
Exactly, and exactly. Complete hypocrites.
