Deloitte Dénouement

Long, long ago, when you were little boys and girls, I lodged an FOI. This FOI concerned the Deloitte debacle. My request was broad and complicated but in brief the FOI – in actuality, two related FOIs – requested:

1. All of VCAA’s discussions and analyses, both internal and external by VCAA request, of the five major errors on the 2022 VCE mathematics exams.

2. The Terms of Reference of the review of the mathematics examination development process commissioned by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) in March 2023, as well as documents prior and subsequent to the commencement of the review, that indicate the formation of and the conduct of that review by VCAA.

“But Does Blacher matter?”, I hear you ask. Honestly, I don’t know. “So, given it may be a waste of time, do we still have to do it?” Hell, yes. Continue reading “Your Blacher Homework is Due Monday” →

They typically consist of self-satisfied tossers interviewing their self-satisfied tosser mates, teaming up to aimlessly piss away an hour with smug pseudo-wisdoms and leaden jokes. Michael Spicer has captured perfectly their awfulness. Being aware of my opinion, it was therefore very brave of frequent commenter JJ to recommend to me two podcasts. Grattan’s Simple Message to Primary School Principals

Grattan has just released a sequel to its recent Maths Guarantee report: a guide for primary school principals. It repeats much of their main report, and the criticisms still hold, but Grattan’s main report was good and the new guide is good.
