Asking for a friend.
A ratbag was interviewed on ABC Drive a couple days ago. I may as well upload it.
What’s happened now?
The Age (7/October/2025) Page 6.
“MAV recognises the powerful role of CAS calculators” (direct quote of MAV director Jennifer Bowden in today’s Age).
“MAV does not recognise the difference between their ass and their elbow” (direct quote from anyone outside of MAV)
The next part of that quote bothers me more: “…[MAV recognises the role of CAS] in improving mathematical learning and efficiency.”
Um… no?
Every single line from Bowden is a shocker.
Agreed. That phrase in particular disturbed me. A lot. It made me question my assumptions about MAV. Moreso than past actions, which, upon reflection, is also a concern.
They gave no arguments, just stated their well established position in the third person. I wonder if the big CAS company sponsorship of their conferences had an influence? They didn’t mention that did they. Shame on you MAV.
They gave no argument because they have no argument.
The article reminds me of a paper that I wrote in 2019.
The one that the MAV CEO censored?
Please share – either the paper or the story.
I doubt that Terry will share either. But if it is what I am thinking of, it was yet another case of the MAV sucking VCAA’s cock. Basically an instance of this and this and this.
From a recent email from MAV.
Yep. They sold their souls long ago.
Surely there’s a conflict of interest. I didn’t see anything in the article mentioning that MAV are literally getting paid by the calculator firms.
No, but there will be a blog post soon that will be damn sure to mention it.
